My "I" is constantly changing (perhaps this is merely AD/HD): overdetermined nexus of cultural forces emanating from several continents: skeptical of all Truths and seeker of the truth: iconoclast by enculturation, brain chemistry, and, perhaps, choice: perpetually perplexed, particularly about why we exist/ as the manifestation of overdetermined forces whose existence (and nature) is not as solid (or simplistic) as we would like.

What's Bush Got Against the CIA?

First he successfully shifted the blame for invading a sovereign country without provocation on the Central Intelligence Agency (nevertheless, I say good riddance to Saddam Hussein and Uday and the rest of Saddam's small inner circle of thugs -- but did we have to kill 100,000 Iraqis to bring about this result?), making it seem that his lying about the reasons for the invasion was just being misinformed (by the CIA, which can't exactly come out and say, "Sorry, but that's not what we told the president and he damn sure knows it."). Then his administration exposes a covert agent (which is treason, according to Bush Senior, former director of the CIA) to get back at a former ambassador who pointed out that the administration was lying about the motivations for invading that sovereign nation. What the heck is going on here? Are these guys enemies of this country or what? Shouldn't someone be executed for this act of treason? What's all this about indicting Scooter (Scooter? Didn't he know with that nickname he'd end up a scapegoat eventually?) and not only is Rove sitting pretty, but so is the vice prez and his sidekick the prez. I do not think this is quite right (even if they do pretend to be the champions of the Right). But, hey, that's what makes this country great, isn't it? --- the ability to commit a capital crime and get off because of your status, parentage, or well connected demogoguery (as long as you scream loudly the Right slogans then you can commit almost any crime and get away with it, even illegal drug use -- just ask Rush). Isn't that the reason Bush is prez in the first place? He's a shining example of why one needs to pick one's parents (and rhetoric and related supporters) carefully if you want to be president and/or commit treason and get away with it.
