My "I" is constantly changing (perhaps this is merely AD/HD): overdetermined nexus of cultural forces emanating from several continents: skeptical of all Truths and seeker of the truth: iconoclast by enculturation, brain chemistry, and, perhaps, choice: perpetually perplexed, particularly about why we exist/ as the manifestation of overdetermined forces whose existence (and nature) is not as solid (or simplistic) as we would like.

Jon Voight Launches Political Career?

Today Jon Voight spoke out in favor of the Iraq war and occupation, declared the war winnable, and that we must fight against Islamic extremism. In my estimation, this is tantamount to a declaration of political intentions, on Voight's part. He's following in some venerable Hollywood footsteps, recognizing that a B-list actor(or, in Arnie's case, an A-list actor who may have been past his A-list prime) can be reborn as a Republican politician and not only regain limelight lost but, in some cases (like Reagan) become a far more visible politician than they ever were as an actor. Voight would seem to be a prime candidate for this sort of transformation. He was never really a major actor in Hollywood, but he is well known (all the more because of his daughter), has a valuable voice (very recognizable and on the low end of the musical scale, evoking a sense of strength), and is articulate (which isn't always necessary, but I don't think it hurts). So, J. V. when do you announce your campaign (and what office are you going to select)?

Dream Death

Dream Death had its moment in the sun (about two-three weeks), appearing on four of Amazon's "bestseller" lists. At one point it was even number 1 on both the lists "Poetry, Asian American, United States" and "Asian American Hot Sellers." It still appears on two (although it is fading fast). At last note, it was #42 on the former list. I haven't been promoting it, so I'm not sure who is buying. Maybe it doesn't take a lot of sales to make these lists. Who knows? Nevertheless, since one doesn't really expect poetry to sell, appearing on any lists is worthy of feeling very grateful. And I do.
